While undoubtedly the major selling point of the Variax bass is the ability to mimic the 24 different bass models, as expected the sounds do vary from ultra convincing to interesting (the synth sounds) - however given whats on offer here it’s truly inspiring for the price. If anyones looking for a range of bass sounds for thier home studio or play in a covers band where a range of sound is required the Variax seems to be an obvious choice.

The bass is solid and well put together, plays nicely from the off - tones are easily dialled in via the appropriate knobs - and you can be up and running in no time. Looks wise - perhaps it doesnt hold its own with say a classic Fender or a Rickenbacker - but lets face it - looks is not what the bass is about -this bass is all about tonal options.

Overall given the price theres much to like about the Variax
